Experience with lengths from 500mm to 3897mm (approx. 20 inches to 153 inches).
Experience exists with target thicknesses up to 15mm in thickness. However, the total weight of the target should be an equipment design and process consideration, as longer silver rotatable targets can become very heavy.
In architectural glass coater targets that are 3191mm or longer, very thick silver coatings can cause slight sag in the middle of the target because of the weight, and impact uniformity. This is generally not an issue with shorter targets less then 2 meters length.
Our thermal spray process is specifically chosen and optimized to ensure low oxygen content. With expertise in evaluating various process methods such as thermal spray, cold spray, casting, and other rotatable target forms, we have adopted this process for its ideal combination of cost-efficiency and technical properties.
Applications include web coaters and large area glass coaters, where our silver rotary targets have been successfully used in low-E glass coating stacks, window films, anti-bacterial coatings, and high temperature superconductors.
Reclaim of residual coatings is also a part of the complete cost of ownership. In some instances, it’s also economical to re-use the backing tubes.
Silver alloys with gold, indium, tin, copper and other elements are possible.
